As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Disciples was founded in the early 1800’s in the United States and today make up nearly 3,800 congregations. Disciples congregations are self-governing and as unique as all the individuals who make them up. Worship services may be traditional, blended, or contemporary and include lay women and men in leadership. The diversity of opinion, cultures, and faces are common throughout our congregations.
We confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world, requiring nothing more – and nothing less – as a basis of our life together. Disciples hold the centrality of scripture, recognizing that each person has the freedom – and the responsibility – to study God’s Word within the community of the church. We practice the baptism of believers, which emphasizes that God’s grace demands a response to faith and discipleship, while also recognizing the baptism performed in other churches.
We affirm and rejoice in the gifts of the Holy Spirit – which include the gift of leadership – that God has given for the common good, and so we believe all persons are called by God to do service and work in the church as lay persons lead in worship and various ministries in each congregation. As Disciples, we participate in God’s mission for the world, working with partners to heal the brokenness of creation and bring justice and peace to the whole human family. We hear a special calling to make visible the unity of all Christians, proclaiming that in our diversity we belong to one another because we commonly belong to Christ.
Come As You Are! We hope you join us and become inspired by the Spirit in worship with us. There are lots of great things happening in worship for all ages including our youth Spirit space so join us today! We usually follow the Common Lectionary, dabble in the Narrative Lectionary, or use worship series to provide sacred space for a variety of worship experiences that use our minds, hearts, hands and feet.
Looking for something a little different? Wednesday Night worship is a safe place to worship God through sacred conversation, asking a lot of questions, and prayer. The purpose of this service is to inspire each other to follow our passions, callings, and vocations. Join us this Wednesday, or follow along on @FCCMWSpiritualDisciplines.
Our small dedicated choir leads us in worship each Sunday. Join the choir if you love singing. Rehearsals immediately follow worship each Sunday. Play an instrument? Share your talents with us for praising and glorifying God. We also have a children's bell choir for your little ones to get more involved in worship.
Your child is welcome to stay for worship or hang out in the back of the sanctuary. We provide children bulletins, crayons and pencils, and activities for children to do following the Children’s Moment. A nursery is also available for smaller ones if you so choose.
Children come to know and trust in God through Godly Play. Located next to the nursery is a dedicated room for children to hear, sing, and learn about the story of God. Teachers use audio and visual methods to teach children about the biblical stories, allow each child to explore and ask questions, inviting them to be a part of the story in a variety of ways. We offer Godly play at 9:30 am Sunday mornings and 7:00 pm on Wednesdays.
Looking for ways to get involved? Our worship team welcomes fresh and creative ideas to continue to improve our worship experience. We could use your input and leadership in developing worship for the next generation. Call or email us for more information.
