Jesus taught his Disciples through parables, healings, and sermons. Disciple means “student.” In the Great Commission, Christians are called to teach and make students of God's love for all of humanity and Creation. Bible studies and sacred conversations are the means to learn and discover this love. Our diverse opinions and experiences help us to see a bigger picture of God, Jesus, and the Church. Differences of opinion are seen as opportunities to grow in greater understanding. Here, you will find friendly places to have these sacred conversations and grow in Christ.
We currently offer two multigenerational Sunday classes. Each class is led by clergy, retired clergy, and laypersons.
The "Wildwood" class studies a variety of Christian topics and specific books of the Bible. This class has a wide range of opinions and yet this class often laughs together. This is perfect for those desiring to dive deeper than more typical Sunday school classes.
The "Discovery" class studies a variety of spiritual series based on Christian traditions, beliefs, and books of the Bible. This class is ideal for those discovering the joys of being or becoming a Christian.
The "New Christians" class follows the "Travel Guide to Christian Faith" curriculum and allows students to discover the meaning and beauty of our faith traditions and rituals using everyday language.
The youth (6th graders to 12th graders) will meet Sundays for Bible Study, prayer, and fellowship. We will begin a new study in September and end our year at the end of May. Youth are encouraged to attend mission trips, church camp, and family vacations in the summer.
If you are trying to decide to join our church family, ask to be baptized, or have already joined our church family, and unfamiliar with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), then this class is for you. Sign-up before the next class time so the pastor can prepare.
The Christian Women's Fellowship invites all women to participate in study and fellowship. In addition to studies, they organize a Christmas outreach program and collect funds for Disciples Crossing youth campers. See our Facebook page for CWF announcements.
Looking for something a little different? Wednesday night is Spiritual Disciplines (a worship/study group) is a safe place to worship God through sacred conversation, asking a lot of questions, and prayer. The purpose of this service/study is to inspire each other to follow our passions, callings, and vocations. We open with potluck and community prayer to kick things off. A great entry point to coming back to church. Children are welcome to participate in Godly Play and learn to play church bells during the meeting.
Many people just want to know how to read the Bible and ask questions along the way. We will be exploring the four Gospels in 2018-2019 using the Interpretation Bible Study series. Each class is 10 to 12 weeks. Materials will be provided. All ages are welcome to participate. If you need childcare services, please let us know prior to your arrival.
